Graham Potter’s greatest Chelsea failure is nothing new, as evidenced by the Thomas Tuchel decision.
Football is a game of thin margins, as the cliche goes. It is real. Effectively, a centimeter can determine a game. It has the greatest potential to drastically influence someone’s career.
Take Saturday afternoon as an illustration. Chelsea would have tied Southampton and had the momentum to continue and win the game if Raheem Sterling’s strike had missed Ainsley Maitland-Niles by a centimeter or two. Despite the fact that there would still be uncertainty around Graham Potter’s future, social media would be a far more enjoyable place to be.
Sterling did not, however, score. Chelsea failed to. The Blues are still tenth in the Premier League.
