The CCP’s methods for suppressing churches are being replicated in Western countries, according to Bob Fu, president of the U.S.-based non-governmental group ChinaAid.
According to Fu of Fox News Digital, “the similarities between the American leftist way of restriction and even discrimination and the Chinese Communist way of persecution are very, very striking.”
The left in the United States is allegedly becoming more “dictatorial,” both culturally and politically, by stifling dissent, enforcing “woke” culture, and limiting speech, according to Fu.
He identified the suspected use of political weaponry by “It is very shocking and horrible to see American society’s transformation evolving from its constitutional basis,” Fu said.
Fu was a student leader at his university during the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989 and became a Christian in the Chinese underground church decades ago.
Fu and his wife were imprisoned in Beijing for leading insurgent protests, as detailed in his 2013 book “God’s Double Agent.”
The couple fled the nation in 1996, and the United States took them in as refugees the following year.
He claimed that the reasons he started ChinaAid in 2002 were to give “a voice to those voiceless persecuted brothers and sisters in China” and to offer “legal and humanitarian aid to those who are persecuted, imprisoned, and tortured.”
Fu, a naturalized citizen of the United States who studied at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, claimed that some of the strategies employed by the United States and other Western nations to suppress churches during the pandemic were occasionally straight out of the “Chinese Communist playbook.”
He remarked, “They just have one playbook. “I observed the governor of California essentially ordering the church to close and directing them to not only when they can pray, but how.
He vowed to punish those congregations and pastors in ways that, at times, were verbatim copies of the CCP’s tactics against Chinese churches. Eric Garcetti, a former Democratic mayor of Los Angeles, once threatened to turn off the utilities to residences and companies that disobeyed COVID-19 regulations in California, according to Fu.
What’s this? The Communist Party has used the very same strategy against the churches over the years, Fu asserted word for word. By the time of publication, neither Newsom nor Garcetti had responded to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
Fu also brought out the treatment of pastors in Canada in recent years as an especially egregious instance of Chinese-style strategies being used to crack down on churches in a Western democracy, noting that the nation has been persecuting churches “both passively and actively.”
In front of the camera, police in Canada, according to Fu, would break into a church during Sunday services, expel all the worshippers, and essentially push the pastor outside before closing down the entire structure. “So, it is currently occurring.
I believe that the church in the West needs to be ready for situations like these, as well as potential future ones.
Churches across Canada had to deal with jailed pastors, sealed buildings, hefty fines, and ongoing involvement from government officials during the pandemic.
After Calgary, Alberta’s Pastor Tim Stephens was detained once more in 2021 after a police aircraft purportedly discovered his U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., penned a letter requesting the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom to add Canada to its watch list in response to a church gathering outside.
As of Wednesday, Calgary pastor Derek Reimer was still incarcerated after being detained twice in recent weeks for opposing drag queen story times for kids at public libraries. Most recently, he was accused of violating a release order that forbade him from speaking with anyone who identify as LGBTQ or from being 200 meters or closer to gatherings involving the LGBTQ community.
Another Calgary pastor who was repeatedly imprisoned for keeping his church open during the pandemic, Pastor Artur Pawlowski, told Fox News Digital last week that Reimer’s arrests show that the government is anti-Christian and starting to impose ideology enforcing COVID-19 protocols with the same methods they did.
