Three police officers were shot and killed on Thursday afternoon in the Umunze community of the Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State by gunmen hailing from Obinna Odogwu, Awka.
It was learned that the incident occurred at a community joint checkpoint.
The shooters said to have worked in a plain vehicle, started shooting at the cops after arriving at the designated spot.
Police Advertising Official in the state, Tochukwu Ikenga, affirmed the episode, saying that more cops had been shipped off the upset region.
“The police command is not discouraged by this development, despite the unfortunate incident and the fact that it is part of the highest price security officers pay for serving the nation.
Ikenga stated, “The reinforcements teams are already in the area, the assailants are being hunted for, and joint security patrols have been intensified in the area.”
