As the cybersecurity committee submits a report on the kingship tussle and receives more than 1000 petitions, Ikirun waits for a response from the government.
The Committee on Chieftaincy Issues, chaired by Bunmi Jenyo, was established by Governor Ademola Adeleke to investigate the appointment of monarchs by former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola beginning on July 17, 2022.
Jenyo said that the committee received over 1000 petitions, mostly from the Igbajo, Iree, and Ikirun communities, when she presented the reports on Tuesday.
“We looked into it, responded to petitions, and took a serious look at it because we believe in equity and have been fair to everyone involved,” he said.
“We have over 200 interviews with people, including the kingmakers of all impacted communities, and over 1000 petitions on chieftaincy concerns in Osun.”
